American Conquest (PC game) on Windows 10 Calculator play - only how?

I like to play the PC game American Conquest.

On my previous Windows 95, 98 and Windows XP machines, this was always very good and also a lot of fun.

Now I've bought and installed the PC game again. On my Asus notebook with a very new NVIDEA graphics card and 8 GB of RAM.

Windows 10.

Usually that should be enough for an old PC game.

I changed the compatibility in the properties to Windows XP (Service Pack 3) and started it as administrator.

The game also starts, the music can be heard, but then (even after minutes) only a black screen can be seen.

How can I play the game properly on my Windows 10 notebook without buying a Windows 98 machine or another game?

I have the same question for the version "Fight Back".

Ya

You could still: Uninstall and reinstall while already switching the installer for compatibility.

Choose a different compatibility.

These are two spontaneous ideas from me.

The convenient solution is https://www.gog.com/game/american_conquest and does not cost the world.

The second option would be to build a retro PC.
Although it lierfert a more authentic gaming experience - but costs much more.

Pro Forma - but very unlikely: wait, if the manufacturer brings out a Windows 10 patch.
