Remove Mrs Major.exe?

I have a virus on my notebook where very important data was on it. These data mean a lot to me because they include, for example, pictures of my grandma's 100th birthday. Then there are pictures of the enrollment of my son, etc.

Suddenly there were some horror pictures and so funny music.

Then the PC went off, when I got it up then came this screen:

Remove Mrs Major.exe

The screen says something about infected by Mrs Major.

Can you remove the virus? Or at least save the data which would be the most important.

Please fast help. Among other things, the data was also very important because it was insurances etc. And then the pictures (I could cry).

Here again the question:

Can you remove the virus? Or at least save the data which would be the most important.

Save data - maybe, if that is not such a crypto-trojan. Otherwise, that should not be a problem. Pack the Linux image onto a USB stick, then boot from the USB stick and then mount the hard disk from there and then move the data over to another disk.

Much easier would have been but a regular backup of personal information…

The hard all data on desktop replaced by any red symbols.

You need another (working) PC / laptop first.

On which you load any Linux system (I recommend https://linuxmint.com/...hp?id=262) down and create with https://r2.computerbild.de/exec/r2r.pl?m=w-cobi;u=https%3A%2F%2Fd.computerbild.de%2Fdownloads%2F4717271%2Frufus-3.5p.exe%3F__cbodl__%3D1556980726_da0361265e44a5dd457be062a73eacf9%26_chksum_%3Da3efa6940b80d719025f6548bea80eeb;ct=1;thc=1;b=4717271;c=8068068;tit=Rufus+Portable+3.5.1497;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.computerbild.de%2Fdownload%2FRufus-Portable-8068068.html;sep=%7C;tce=%7C;tid=36485;tn=USB-Tools;tp=95%7C362;tc=95%7C362%7C36485;tpn=Software+Kategorie%7CTuning+%26+System;cs=1 a bootable USB stick.

On the affected laptop you then boot from the stick and look if you can find the data on the hard drive. I wish you luck, but I would not have high hopes.

That's why backups are so important. Preferably on different data carriers, which are stored in different places (with the parents etc.).

Have already looked at YouTube. There are only videos on how to start this virus (Mrs Major).

al

Whether the data is encrypted or not - or just the symbols were exchanged - can only be found out with the method I have described.

As I said: a backup would have made everything easier. Then it would have been no problem if this is a crypto-trojan.

I can't even start the BIOS anymore

Is Linux Mint synonymous to Windows 10? And if so, do I still have Windows 10 after that?

Am

I just found that I can't in the BIOS. How should I boot from the USB stick?

th

Simply plug it in, normally it works automatically.

This does not install Linux Mint. You only search the hard drive with it

Am

Works, my antivirus program did a car backup

Lucky. It would be best to rebuild the laptop now to remove remnants of the malware. And of course do backups. If you ever wear the hard drive does not help anti-virus program anymore.

Am

The backup has been corrupted by the virus and can't be loaded

Am

Will use Linux Mint now

th

OK.

Am

Short update, the virus has damaged the backup. Have now nitb Linux Mint booted. Fortunately, the data is not encrypted.

Am

I can pull the data down. And how do I remove the virus afterwards? Is that synonymous with Linux Mint?

th

Reinstall Windows completely.

https://www.hardwaredealz.com/forum/threads/der-windows-10-installations-guide.725/

.exe files etc. Please do not copy only pictures and text files. The rest may be infected by the virus. (Theoretically, all files could be infested, but unlikely)

Am

I can't rebuild Windows.

Am

There's always an error message

th

It has to go. Format entire hard disk.

Did you do it 1 to 1 according to the instructions?

If you boot up the computer you it should bring up the "Automatic Repair" screen. Click advanced options, click troubleshoot, then click advanced options, You can click startup repair if you want to, but we need the command prompt. In the command prompt window, type bootrec.exe /fixmbr If all goes well, it should say "The operation completed successfully." Now the MBR problem. Your MBR has been overwritten. We can fix this by going through the same steps that we did at the beginning to get to the command prompt again. There, you type bootrec /RebuildBcd Then type bootrec /fixMbr Then type bootrec /fixboot Type bootsect /nt60 SYS type bootsect /nt60 ALL If these all fail, I think you're f'd. If they do work, then after your computer boots, MAKE A BACKUP. It's very important to create a backup in case something like this were to happen again. If you still can't boot, that. Probably because your boot sector has also been overwritten. I'd hate to break your dreams, but… If your whole boot sector has been overwritten, you can shove that computer right up your butt. You can't boot anymore if this didn't work.

It's strange that the mouse cursor is on the red screen.

Gu

I don't think Mrsmajor overwrites your MBR (just saying), because if it would it wouldn't show the Windows bootscreen. Afaik when ur mbr gets overwritten, right after your pc's logo it would show the infected MBR. In mrsmajor, it shows the bootscreen and then a fake red screen of death. Also i know that it has been a year, but still.
