What is better an Amd based notebook (HP Slimbook Ryzen 5 2500U 8-Thread 3.6 GHz) or one with an Intel processor?

Br

The Intel has a bit more power but the Ryzen is cheaper

Ze

One with an Intel CPU, as far as I've looked at it, the Intel CPUs are always better than those of the other brand, of course you can't compare ancient Intel processors with the new amd, but the Intel cpus are so unfairly from the same time better, for example an Intel with 3.6GHz is always faster than an amd with 3.6GHz, but the GHz number only increases how many work steps a cpu does, but if they are not so effective, a high GHz number will only be of little use, at this point the intels are faster or at least they were always faster (much like porsche was always faster than VW Beetle).

There's this saying: if you buy cheap, you buy twice.

As

As long as it doesn't say which Intel cpu it is, you can't make a good statement. Although a 2500u is quite old, and the 3000 or 4000 series offers a lot better.

As

That is not true, at least not with modern cpus, the 2000 series is ancient, the ipc with the 3000 or soon 4000 series is far better than that from intel, and amd has the much better apu.

That is a Ryzon 5

There are only two manufacturers of x86 CPUs left and that is AMD and Intel (apart from that, VIA still has the rights to this chipset, but at the moment they are not competitive). So there are no brands other than AMD and Intel.

You are talking about IPC (instructions per cycle) and since Zen 2 / Matisse architecture at AMD it has been stronger than with the current core i architecture from Intel.

Incidentally, the statement that this is always the case has never been correct, even in the past AMD had with K5 & K6 / Athlon, Athlon XP and Athlon X2 e.g. The (significantly) superior architecture on the market.

Intel's Nehalem and then the core i architecture were long superior to any AMD architecture, so from 06/07 to 2018 the current Intel chips were actually superior to AMD, which is admittedly a very long period of time, but you should stop with brands to argue, but compare architectures… And Zen 2 is better there.

As

"what intel cpu it is" great a ryzen 5 2500u is really good compared to an intel pentium from 2000, but totally bad compared to an intel processor of the 10th generation.

As

But it is not a zen mobile processor, although I also find it stupid to compare a ryzen 5 2500u with an intel 10th gene, or generally I can't make a comparison between a ryzen 5 2500u and an intel cpu without specification.

Po

The R5 2500 is a bit old. Current Ryzen and Intel processors are usually faster.
