With HDMI connected monitor only 30 FPS?

I bought a monitor for my laptop, which I connected with HDMI. All right, but in every game I suddenly have only 30 FPS instead of the usual 60.

Everything should be running normally, but it does not. What could it be?

Probably the monitor has a higher resolution which requires more computing power.

You could turn off the internal monitor. But as everyone said. This is about the resolution. But you can also screw down in the settings in Windows, then you should someday have your 60 frames again, but if that looks good is something else, each monitor has its native setting which offers the best pixel representation.

As the others already write, it is probably due to the higher resolution of the new monitor.

To get your 60FPS you now have a few options:

Reduce resolution in Windows settings (Control Panel). But it does not look quite good either
Turn down the graphics of the games. Of course, that does not make it look that good, either.
Stronger graphics card (difficult but not impossible with a laptop)
Overclock hardware

I hope this helps.
