Checking and repairing drive (C.)?

I recently got an MSI laptop as a gift and it is brand new but this message appears when I start the laptop:

"Checking and repairing drive (c.)" What does that mean?

Do I have to bring the laptop back?

If this message goes away again, is this message bad, what does that mean, maybe who knows what?

Just let it do it, it will be again.

This is a message from the operating system that for some reason it is running a diagnostic routine (chkdsk or the like).

Doesn't mean much. You can't say more details without at least knowing what kind of operating system it is.
