In your opinion, is it easier to browse through e-books on your laptop or tablet?

At the moment, apart from a laptop, I only have my smartphone, which has a 6-inch display. For me personally, reading on the laptop is not much fun, nor on the smartphone.

When I read on my smartphone, my eyes start to hurt after a few minutes because the font in the Dsiplay is too small. This problem does not exist with the laptop, but it is also not possible to crawl comfortably in the corner on the couch. Because you have to put the laptop somewhere and on the couch and armchair these are of course the legs.

And for these reasons, I think hard about bringing a tablet into the house because I suspect that it can be used to surf, read e-books or watch videos in a completely different way. Am I right about my guess?

Why not an eBook reader?

Tablet makes more sense than an ebook reader

Neither nor - at least after all the examinations that I know and also according to my personal opinion. Both a notebook and a tablet strain the eyes more due to the display. The easiest is an eBook reader with an ePaper display. Either completely without background lighting or at least not with lighting that is set too bright or set to "warm white".

I had the Tolino Shine 3 first. The device was an absolute catastrophe, firstly it took seconds for a page to open, then it took another seconds for the page to build up and the scrolling was the same drama, despite 50,000 line. No idea whether it was a faulty device or whether these parts all have such quirks, at least I no longer get an e-book reader.

Huh? Why should something be reloaded? An EBook is usually loaded onto the eBook Reader in one go and that's it.

I have a first generation Kindle Paperwhite and it works quickly.

Comfortable, eye-friendly reading is only possible with a proper ebook reader with an e-ink display.

Tablet and smartphone are both just emergency solutions for reading eBooks and have many disadvantages compared to real eBook readers, e.g.

The display reflects and reflects
The eyes are strained
In the sunshine you can hardly see anything
High battery consumption (with the ebook reader, a battery charge lasts for several weeks, even if you read for several hours every day)

If you read a lot, then I would definitely recommend that you get a real ebook reader. They specialize in reading eBooks, which of course means that other functions surfing, videos, … Are hardly / not possible.
Audio functions (audio books, music, …) are possible with some models.

If you are interested in an ebook reader, I would recommend one of the brands Tolino or Pocketbook, but not Kindle!

Had the Tolino and wanted to put my Kindl library on it, unfortunately this was only possible with the help of a program, the name of which I no longer remember, because Tolino reads completely different formats than the Paperwhite spw. That was my first problem, the second was that many books I was interested in were only available on Amazon and the third problem was the page-building issue when I was browsing the web with the browser when I was wanted to look around on the common platforms. These were too many exclusion criteria for me, which is why I then sent the thing back. Better still a hunni on top and got the Samsung Tab A or Huawei MediaPad 5 Lite, you can certainly turn off the blue lights on the new tablets so that the eyes are spared and you can sleep well at night, even my laptop has this BlueLight Shield and the is from 2015 …

But that doesn't change the fact that a) you still have to search the bookstores and b) you need the corresponding app. So you probably have the same disadvantages with the apps.

But good - a matter of taste.
