Good evening dear technology freaks!
Have a gaming notebook from Medion Erazer equipped with a GTX 1060 graphics card.
After checking for a more recent graphics driver I found the following version:
Is it worth it to install this driver? I'm just a bit worried that something could go wrong after this new driver installation, such as the system would not run smoothly afterwards.
What did you experience with this driver?
My current driver is the following
I pers have long been no more disadvantages by a driver updates. However, I do that without additional software manually.
When I see your age-old version, I advise doing it. But in this huge jump, I would uninstall the old driver clean and load the current from the Nvidia homepage and install manually. In the course of installation then choose a complete reinstallltion. Then all game profiles are recreated.
Because: New driver generation, new features.
Geforce GTX 1060 - Medion Erazer notebook?
The headline alone kept me from reading on.
Medion is much but not a gaming device. I do not want to know what the marketing strategists came up with. Which Krat have smoked in their quiet chambers to lead the clientele so on the ice. All notebooks (no matter which manufacturer or brand) under 2500 euro are nothing more than office boxes. In the price range of 1800-2499 euro are good office boxes. Any other designation would be a waste of it.
Is it worth it to install this driver?
AT OWN RISK!
Lubricate the box afterwards or have mistakes, your problem. The chance is 50:50!
It may go well, it may as well go wrong.
Your decision and heartfelt contributed to the notebook you are currently using.
In your place, I would not let it "automatically" install, but first look directly on the website of Medion, if the DIE offer this new driver version of itself.
If not, but the system itself with the previous driver still works perfectly in all your applications and games, I would leave it for now.
Apart from updates of the operating system and additional security-related software (browsers, Internet and routers / modems / network components), one can still say with general device drivers: "Never touch a running system".
What are you writing for things?
Why 50/50?
Thank you for your answer.
Now you have another question:
Yesterday I downloaded the software "Driver Booster" to bring all my drivers up to date. Do you know about this software and can I update the drivers with this tool?
If I read through the comments, I think that it makes almost more sense to install the drivers on the manufacturer side. Have on the homepage at Medion found all the drivers and will most likely soon pull these drivers.
I would everything, which is not directly from the operating system unavoidable, also as 3rd. - Uninstall Party Software immediately.
As long as everything lüppt, manually only regularly look for security updates for OS, Network + Internet and directly related technology.
At games themselves otherwise only manual at most patches, if it concerns yourself. Always create a system save point for possible backups.
