I have some problems with my old laptop, bought it in 2014. The battery is broken, after ten minutes the battery goes empty and when I connect it, the battery is full again. In addition, every ten seconds I get a notification that my laptop needs to be charged, even though I'm charging it.
My problem now is the lockdown: I don't have much time left to make a decision on site. That's why I'm going to a euronics store tomorrow to get advice. I'll reserve one right away and buy it there on Tuesday.
The laptop should
be good for Sims 3 (only!)
Play Prime Videos
do not hang regularly, so run smoothly
In addition, I would of course like to work with PowerPoint, Word, etc. For school. So it shouldn't be too expensive! I thought between 500 and 800 euro. Do you have any tips that I can use as a guide tomorrow?
Do you want to buy a new laptop because of a defective battery? How about a new battery?
I have a Lenovo laptop. The Lenovo ideapad 3. It costs around 500 euro and is enough for something like that. Lenovo also has some good ones in this price range so I can recommend them. They are not the very best but are completely sufficient for the things you have described
The laptop is also no longer running smoothly, blah blah. It's been 6 years since you can buy a new one. Also, I don't know if batteries are still available for this laptop.
You didn't write this information in the question ;-)
You don't have to buy from Euronics either, you can order from the usual shops on the Internet. That would probably be cheaper. Above all, you then have a larger selection.
Of course I'm aware of this, but I would rather seek advice on site than blindly order something online.
Ok… The selection, especially on site, is unfortunately always an issue. But if the device is supposed to handle one or two small games, then I recommend a model with an AMD Ryzen APU. In addition, the part should have at least 8, better 16GB RAM, and the SSD (pay attention, sometimes cheaper devices with HDD are sold) should already have 256GB, better more. How something like this could look like https://www.notebooksbilliger.de/...2ng+620864 is an example.
I don't think much of the proposed Lenovo devices because the RAM (or a part) is soldered to all of the cheaper devices. If there's a defect, the whole board has to be replaced, and a reasonable dual-channel operation (which is very performance-enhancing with the APU's from AMD) is not possible.
How do you like the Acer Swift 1?
Replace the battery. Problem solved.
I have that too. Great device!
Option 1: order a new battery
Option 2: Search for a new notebook with an SSD and a Ryzen 5 CPU or an Intel i5 10XXGX.
Option 3: Order on the Internet, cheaper and more choice.
Ultimately, your requirements are very low, so the choice is huge up to 800 euro and you can get usable devices for 400 euro (at least online).
Very thin… And not just in terms of design. The built-in Pentium are the lowest performance spectrum, so you will probably not be happy. In the meantime, Pentium no longer stands for top but for the bottom drawer in terms of performance. And for the price? A little more and you get much better equipment.
