1. What do you want to use your laptop for?

I start in the fall in a higher-technical school and I want my laptop mainly for school (we will write a lot with Word), Cad (hobby moderately), video editing (also hobby moderately), programming and google using.

1.1. Do you want to use the laptop primarily mobile or stationary? How mobile should the laptop be? Should it be a 2in1 notebook / convertible?

I will use it 70% at school and about 30% at home.

Whereby with a 2in1 notebook actually very important would be.

1.2. If you want to play games: what games? Which level of detail?

Actually, I'm not a gamer, so I can't really write anything there.

1.3. Music / Image / Video Editing or CAD: Which Software? Professional or hobby?

Cad: Fusion 360

Video editing: Davinci Resolve

(As mentioned above, I do both hobby moderately)

2. How big should the display be? Would you like a touch screen or a particularly high display quality?

14 "at 4k resolution is enough for me completely and if I need a larger display, I will connect the laptop to an external monitor.

3. How long should the battery life be?

At least 6-7h.

The more the better

4. Which operating system do you want to use? Is a license available? Should the notebook already have an operating system preinstalled? Do you get windows over the university?

So I would like and need also for the school Windows 10 Pro.

It should already be preinstalled.

5. Do you have any wishes regarding the design, the workmanship, the material or the color?

Honestly, that's very difficult to say.

No matter if silver, white, black.

6. Are there any other special requirements that were not requested? Big hard drive? Numeric keypad? Keyboard light? Digital Ink? Docking via USB-C / Thunderbolt 3? CD / DVD drive? (Educational) discounts? Service & Guarantee? Maintenance facilities? SD card reader?

Hard disk 500Gb to 1Tb would be good.

Number block is not necessary, so no.

Keyboard illumination yes or no. To play it honest does not matter to me.

Pen support, yes!

7. How much money are you willing to spend? Is a second-hand purchase in question?

So all up to 2000 euro pays me my aunt and what goes beyond, I pay myself.

Basically, I would like to find something between 2000 euro and 2500 euro.

Personally, I like the Lenovo thinkpad x1 4th generation around the Microsoft Surface 2 very much, but I'm also looking forward to other suggestions.

I think that the X1 yoga has the best keyboard, which for me writing a lot, can be very good.

If it necessarily has to be a convertible, then I would reach for the surface.

But: Is that up to 14 inches? That would be the Surface 2 laptop, which should not be a convertible.

The Surface Pro 6 is really good, but there are only up to 10 inches around.

The yoga should also be very good. Another alternative could be the HP Elitebook x360.

The Surface Dinger have the advantage of better resolution.

None of the listed.

No one has a decent decent graphics card.

None of the books has even halfway a CPU that has enough power.

Davinci Resolve will not give you much pleasure.

Yes, the Surface 2 is actually a laptop, but you can also use it as a tablet

What else could you recommend?

I can only recommend you! 4k OLED display, good i7 / i9 processor, 16 gb of RAM and a GTX 1650 …

Just read it through.

If it has to be one of the three: The Carbon 6th Generation With HDR WQHD + Display.

Bi

I was not sure. I thought, you can't open it so far.

But: then I would take that. Is there for somewhere 2,200 euro and has just more than a FHD resolution.

Besides, they are really well made.

Okay, but why not the 7th gen with 4k display?

br

Maybe a Dell XPS or Dell G
