Waiting for Nvidia Ampere Series?

I would like to buy a gaming Lenovo Legion Y740 15.6 notebook. Now I have seen that the new RTX3xxx Ampere series will be released in September. Should I buy one with an RTX2070 or wait until September? What do you all mean?

In my opinion, you should buy new hardware when you need it. There's little point in waiting for something new, as something new and better always comes up.

Another little question AMD Ryzen 4800 or Intel I7?

There's not really a difference for pure gaming.

For other tasks that benefit from a lot of cores or threads, the 4800u is almost always better than a 9th generation i7 and about the same as a 10th generation i7. Depending on the application, the ryzen and the intel are sometimes better.

I would look for all options in your place (4800u and i7 10th generation) and then also include other features of the laptops.
