Which notebook is best for this?

So my mother-in-law has a small shop and she needs a new notebook now. She asked me if I could pick one out for her needs. She wants to use it exclusively for business purposes. That means writing, managing, etc. For your cash register system (from Casio) and of course the Microsoft Office programs for Excel, Word and later maybe also PowerPoint. Of course, I know an i7 is better than an i3 Intel processor. Also knows that an i3 core is better than an Intel Pentium. However, the I3 / i5 / i7 cost more than Pentium and that's where we come to the problem. She says it can cost around 500 euro, but I don't think it's smart for the price (if i3, then the SSD is limited to 256 GB, but it should be at least 512 SSD). Then only Pentium processors come into question for the price. Is the processor sufficient for this?

As I said, it is only important for her that she can do her business tasks, write e-mails, send PDFs, possibly save a few pictures, etc.

But I also don't want her to need a new one in 2 years because it is no longer good enough.

How about used notebooks? You could look at Luxnote-hannover.de or nbwn.de or notebooksbilliger.de. I myself can recommend the Lenovo Thinkpad series to you, good devices and also have a docking station if you want something like that. In general, however, nowadays I would rather recommend notebooks that have a USB C connector for power (i.e. For the power supply unit) and also for graphics. USB C is very practical, so you can buy a small adapter for about 20-40 euro to which you can connect everything, power supply, USB keyboard and mouse, monitor, power cord, USB sticks, etc. And all that just via a cable.

I also always advise people to buy at least 8GB of RAM and an i5 or i7 processor, then you have more of the devices and can use them for longer, especially if you have them in business somewhere.

Alternatively, there are also AMD Ryzen CPUs in notebooks, these are roughly comparable to the respective i3, i5 and i7 models and can only recommend them. Again, only from Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 7.

Cheaper notebooks, you can get such devices here from around 480 euro
i5, 8GB Ram, 512GB SSD, 15 "

479 euro Ideapad (256gb ssd): https://geizhals.de/...at&hloc=de

529 euro Ideapad (512gb ssd): https://geizhals.de/...at&hloc=de

Would get the 479 euro and then just retrofit an SSD. But mostly 256gb is enough for office and co. You won't get anything better for 500 euro.

For 500 euro there's only scrap, but scrap is enough for your needs.

Personally, I'm at the point where I like to spend a little more money, but don't have to wait minutes for the laptop to start up.

To be honest, if I were you, I'd rather give her an overview of the market and let her make the decision. Propose to her the best you can find for 500 euro and alternatively a model for a little more that has a reasonably suitable CPU and 500 GB SSD.

All right, I didn't read question correctly. Sorry

So you get it, just without an OS. If you can install everything yourself, you can even save something.
