I'm on vacation, which is why I only have my laptop with only Linux (Ubuntu 19.04) installed. Now I have the problem that I can load on the website https://www.playmemoriescameraapps.com/portal/ no apps on the camera, as I will be forwarded to a Downloader, which exists in the form of an MSI file.
The app to install directly on the camera does not work either, because as soon as I clicked Buy and logged in, it just loads and nothing comes. Does anyone have any idea about the area? Does anyone have a solution?
Here is the link to the downloader: di.update.sony.net/PMCA/tkvsDaSqvc/PMCADownloader.msi
Unfortunately, there's no way to install these camera apps with Linux, as Sony offers the installation tools only for Windows. The installation should also be directly possible via the camera. Of course, the camera must have access to an internet connection. If that does not work, there may be a problem with the camera itself. Maybe you can update the firmware of the camera to fix the problem or there's something in the Sony support.
Although I'm not a specialist for image editing or photography, but maybe it makes sense to save the images in RAW format on camera then you can later, for example. Edit comprehensively with Darktable and GIMP.
Thank you very much, that you have tips.
After some research I have seen that there are other people who also describe the problem of installing paid apps directly from the camera. You can install free apps, but no paid ones. This is not because of my firmware, at least the latest is already installed.
I will contact the support now. Maybe you see the problem, why no paid apps can be installed directly. 👍🏻
Maybe you can buy the apps on the website and then download them with the camera.
