I have a Medion Akoya P6612 laptop running Windows 10.
Unfortunately, this is very slow and sometimes lies, even during normal surfing the Internet.
Currently it is equipped with 4GB of RAM. Does it do anything when I click on e.g. 8 upgrade? Can I surf lagg, play, etc?
Jo, baller SSD and a little more Ram on it.
Yes, especially Chrome needs a lot of RAM.
Otherwise ne SSD, if not already installed.
Can you easily install a SSD in a laptop?
And is it enough if I upgrade RAM without an SSD? Is still a question of cost.
I would say the SSD brings something. At the Ram I would not be so sure if you still get it.
Well, Chrome is known to eat Ram like anything else. As synonymous helps a bit more Ram.
Does not have to be chrome:-)
Yes I know. Firefox is no longer better.
First question: Usually yes, if it is not an ancient part. An SSD does not cost much more than a RAM and the utility seems to me to be much bigger.
So first I would upgrade the Ram. This allows Windows to breathe much more freely.
And as soon as possible I would install an SSD.
This makes the entire system much faster and more spontaneous.
However, the calculator does not work faster. The games themselves are not accelerated.
If a conventional 2.5 "HD is installed, it can easily be replaced by a 2.5" SSD. A 500GB SSD is (depending on the manufacturer) at about 50-70 euro.
The HD could then continue to be used as an external USB drive.
So more of an SSD than more RAM?
And if I buy RAM, does that have to be special for my laptop?
Well more RAM does not bring you much with the old turnip. Since he is only good for office and surf anyway.
The only sensible one is a small SSD for 17 euro (120GB SSD is enough).
In addition, you should be clear that the DDR2 RAM 8GB almost a "fortune" costs, that's just not worth it.
I just found this article:
https://www.computerbild.de/...23291.html
On the second page is a graph that says 4GB Ram is the maximum build. So there's nothing left!
Therefore, you only have one SSD to get the system up to scratch.
This at least significantly speeds up the process of writing and reading the paging file. And booting much faster does the part as well.
And this very underperforming Core2Duo processor (C2D P7350 (2x2.0GHz)) and the installed Graka (GeForce 9600M GS (256MB)) have not been the "big deal" for a very long time.
But with correspondingly low demands, you can basically work with it. But play?
In addition, I consider a Win10 as a little "too much" for this device.
An SSD would still be useful.
And best you throw Windows down and install yourself a Linux.
For example, The extremely economical Lubuntu, Xubuntu, or the entry-friendly Mint. With their resource-saving desktops, your laptop would be working very well again.
And with Linux, even smaller SSDs are enough. Already 128-250GB are already more than enough. They are at 20-50 euro.
Otherwise, it will be more than time to look around for a current implement.
And a notebook is very bad for playing. At least the cheaper ones.
And a desktop PC is always cheaper and more flexible than a comparable notebook.
That will not work anyway, since the 4GB are already the maximum expansion.
Forget the Ram upgrade. This is not possible with you.
I have set my own answer.
I did not choose this model… With my Intel Core2Duo notebook go 8GB DDR2 RAM.
In addition, I consider a Win10 as a little "too much" for this device.
That is not right. With Win10 such notebooks run much better than with Vista or Win7 … I can confirm that from my own experience.
See grafic:

Otherwise I could not find anything useful to the technical data.
Unfortunately, I have to date had no experience in this regard.
But only because on my "older" desktop computer can't install Win10. Therefore, I still use a Win7pro. And next to it is a Lubuntu installed.
The boot process of the installation DVD (or via USB) stops before this rotating "waiting ring" shows up. I only see the Win10 flag.
So I'm not even in any options for the actual installation.
(=> Xeon E5450 (4x3.0GHz) (Mod from 771 to 775), 8GB DDR3, ASRock "G41C-GS Rev2.0", SSD and 2x HD (Sata2))
I try it for at least 2 years again and again. And always with a fresh ISO. And according to "test program" of MS, my system is compatible.
Do you have an idea about this?
Many storage vendors say 8GB. If that does not work, which can deliver you can give it back.
Maybe it's your mod.
On YT I found several clips about overclocking this E5450.
And some of these systems ran with Win10.
