Do you have to install. However, you do not have a license if you originally upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. So you can install Windows 10 and use it for 30 days (with a little trick 90 days) but then you should have taken care of a license at the latest.

You didn't build the record but replaced it completely? Then I agree with the other answers. If you only built the plate because it can be equipped with two, then the BIOS may have to be adjusted again.
When replacing a disk, Win must be reinstalled. If you don't have another PC available, reinstall the old disk and use the MediaCreationTool to make a USB stick with Win10. It must have 8GB or burn a DVD. Also works with the tool. Then you can boot from the stick / DVD with the SSD in the computer and reinstall Win…

Since the computer was upgraded to Win10, it now has a valid online license. This is only tied to the Microsoft account if necessary, or it is recognized by a hardware ID and reactivated. Was with my notebook too. I upgraded it from Win7 at the time and then used Win7 again for a long time… Now I set it up completely new with Win10 and was immediately reactivated. To be honest, it would be new to me. So far I only knew that these upgrade licenses are only valid as long as the operating system is installed. If you reinstall you need a new license. As mentioned, this only applies to Win7 to Win10 with a free upgrade, not if you have bought a license.

If you used an online account, you may even retain the license (see comment from RareDevil). The best thing to do is to simply install it and you can see whether he asks for a new license or not.
