After installing an SSD hard drive Error: Operating System not found?

Hi. I wanted to sell the laptop first, so I reset it.

I then decided to install an SSD hard drive. The installation went flawlessly but when starting the Samsung logo appears and then only "Operation System not found". Operating system Windows 10, laptop Samsung R730, SSD from Samsung SATA 2.5 "870EVO 500GB.

Who can help?

Ra

Very simple - the operating system is not installed.

Em

Well, because there's no OS on a new SSD. You just have to install one.

Pa

Thanks… How do I install this? Original when I bought it was Windows 7 on it but then I installed Windows 10 from the Internet. No CD or stick with an operating system available. What now?

Pa

Thank you. Unfortunately I'm not that fit… How do I do that?

Ra

You can download the installation media. Or you sell the device without Windows.

Pa

OK. Thanks. Try to find something on the net and copy it to CD.

Pa

Thanks… I just have to see if I can get this from somewhere.

Pa

I've already installed the new SSD and want to keep the laptop.

Do you have to install. However, you do not have a license if you originally upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. So you can install Windows 10 and use it for 30 days (with a little trick 90 days) but then you should have taken care of a license at the latest.

How to install it is on the Microsoft site:

In the end, all you need is the Media Creation Tool and a USB stick

You didn't build the record but replaced it completely? Then I agree with the other answers. If you only built the plate because it can be equipped with two, then the BIOS may have to be adjusted again.

When replacing a disk, Win must be reinstalled. If you don't have another PC available, reinstall the old disk and use the MediaCreationTool to make a USB stick with Win10. It must have 8GB or burn a DVD. Also works with the tool. Then you can boot from the stick / DVD with the SSD in the computer and reinstall Win…

Alternatively, you could clone the system from the old disk to the new one. For this, however, both disks would have to be connected to the laptop (or a PC via SATA, etc.)

Then you have to look for a current OS anyway - nothing more starts with Windows 7.

Pa

Thank you.

Since the computer was upgraded to Win10, it now has a valid online license. This is only tied to the Microsoft account if necessary, or it is recognized by a hardware ID and reactivated. Was with my notebook too. I upgraded it from Win7 at the time and then used Win7 again for a long time… Now I set it up completely new with Win10 and was immediately reactivated. Without having to enter a new license…

Br

To be honest, it would be new to me. So far I only knew that these upgrade licenses are only valid as long as the operating system is installed. If you reinstall you need a new license. As mentioned, this only applies to Win7 to Win10 with a free upgrade, not if you have bought a license.

But I had the situation for the last time about 2 years ago with a customer, so it can of course be that the situation is different now (although that would surprise me)

At

I have already completely rebuilt several computers with an upgrade. So far, no license problems as long as the user account came on again and the Win version remained the same (Home / Pro). But they all had an online account so far, which came back on after the installation. Therefore I'm not sure whether this is stored in the account or whether it has been saved by hardware ID and reactivated independently of the user…

Br

THAT will be the difference, never used an online account. Great info, I will remember

Pa

Thanks… Yes, the hard drive was just swapped. A heartfelt thank you. I will try it or see where I can buy Windows 10 licensed cheaply.

Available from 10 euro as a key on the internet

Pa

Thank you for your answer. I will take care of a licensed Windows 10 version.

Sm

Do you have a USB dongle? Search for the Windows 10 operating system on the Internet via Google and hit it on your USB stick (it's free), then you plug the dongle into your laptop and start it, now it should read the file automatically and ask you to enter a product key - you buy this on the internet for around 10 euro. Now you can enter it and the operating system will be installed. There are many videos on YouTube that explain this very nicely

Br

If you used an online account, you may even retain the license (see comment from RareDevil). The best thing to do is to simply install it and you can see whether he asks for a new license or not. You still have at least 30 days to take care of it. You can buy a license in a few minutes, so you are not pressed for time

Pa

Thank you. Windows 10 is running!

Pa

Thanks… Windows 10 is installed and running!

Pa

Thank you for your help! Purchased Windows 10 licensed on the Internet and installed it today. Learned something again. 😊👍
