Connect laptop to controller for Minecraft?

I was going to get the Java version of Minecraft because of its advantages over the Bedrock version.

My problem is that I have problems with joints etc. On my hands, so I can't have my hands on the keyboard for a long time to play.

I know that I can connect an Xbox360 controller to the laptop with a cable, but I don't know if you can play Minecraft with it.

Do any of you know which controllers you can connect? (I would have a Pro Controller from the Switch and a 360 controller available) and whether you can play Minecraft with it?

The Java version does not support controllers. You can plug in whatever you want, but you can only play with the mouse and keyboard.
