Recently we have a 100 fiber optic connection. The bandwidth ordered can also be measured near the Fritzbox 7590. I connected a Fritz Repeater 2400 in the mesh with the Fritzbox (basement office) and connected to the power on the ground floor (display 4 of 5 lines).
The speed test on my laptop resulted in a PING of 13, download 9.14 Mbit / s, upload: 8.18 Mbit / s. What did I do wrong? How can I improve this? That should be a lot better, right?
I thought I knew myself a little bit, it wasn't enough. When I ask AVM support, I get links to the operating instructions, but in my opinion I followed them…
What did I do wrong?
If you would equate "missing know-how" with "done wrong", then: yes.
I wouldn't go that far. You just lack the https://www.elektronik-kompendium.de/sites/kom/0810301.htm that are required if you want to operate two-way radios effectively. But something like that can be acquired. 😉
To put it simply: If you want stable and secure performance, then there's no way around LAN cables.
You could turn off the repeater so that your laptop can only connect to the WLAN of the Fritzbox. Then you stand in the place where your repeater is usually and do a https://www.speedtest.net/...dtest.net/. Then you move slowly in the direction of your Fritzbox and do a speed test every now and then. In this way you can track down sources of interference if necessary.
And if you notice right next to your repeater with the laptop that only 18 Mbit / s are received in the download or 16 Mbit / s in the upload, then the connection between router and repeater is simply bad.
Basically: If you have the possibility, connect the Fritz repeater to the Fritzbox router via LAN cable and use the repeater as https://www.heimnetzwerke.net/wlan-access-point-einfach-erklaert/.
