Hi, I only use my laptop as a computer and have connected a monitor via HDMI. Now I want to connect a second monitor even though I only have an HDMI input. The splinters that I have seen so far on the Internet were not informative enough for me. I don't want to see the same thing on both monitors, I want to use them as 1st and 2nd screens. Does anyone have experience with these splinters and know whether this is possible?
If there's no USB C port, this is not possible. You could split this, but only the same picture. Means you would use 2 monitors for the same picture
So I also have usb c on my laptop but it is only for input or how is that meant?
So I don't know how far that will help you. I have no experience with splinters, but I just use the laptop as a second monitor. The laptop and monitor are side by side on the back of the desk, with the keyboard and mouse in front.
Actually works very well. I use the Lappi for the lower priority because it is smaller (Spotify, quick research or the like) and the monitor for paddling or streaming.
If USB C is available you can buy an HDMI adapter and then you can connect your 2nd.
Important USB C is not a normal USB A termination
Like who else says:
Splitter won't work because it will simply display the same image twice
with usb c it works. USB-C isn't just for charging. Hard drives, monitors, etc. Can also be connected there.
which laptop do you have?
In order to be able to display two mini-goals different images, the graphics card must also be able to calculate the total area of the two images. An HDMI splitter only looks like a screen to the internal graphics card, which means that you only have 2 identical images.
If your laptop had a Thunderbolt 3 interface, an eGPU bay could help, which is like a box with a power supply for a desktop graphics card, which can be connected either via Thunderbolt 3 or, to a limited extent, via USB-C - but you can get a real one right away Buy a PC because of the cost
One from hitech… Now has no special name as far as I know 😅
Yes, also good, but the lappi is under my table and wants two monitors of the same size side by side. Therefore. Trdm thank you
Yes, I know my way around a little… But you can seriously use the USB port on the laptop as an output for an adapter to hdmi and then to the monitor? Awesome
The docking stations are connected to this
The laptop was 1700 euro back then
But still nothing helps, unfortunately…
This is meant in such a way that an external graphics card is connected via USB-C. Unfortunately, USB graphics cards have little power
Unfortunately, I know that not only you know how to connect a second monitor to USB C
Yes, I'm just saying that I don't want to buy a new one… But if I can use the USB c output via an adapter, that would be basically possible.
Oh well… So if I connect a monitor to the hdmi and one via the USB c output, that doesn't work?
How does that work with normal computers? They also need a splinter or something. Or do the 3 to 5 HDMI outputs have?
The name should be on the back.
But
An additional graphics card is then attached via USB-C.
In the case of a desktop PC, a real graphics card has several screen outputs, which can be 2 DVI outputs, or DVI + HDMI + Displayport
No a docking station was dodging
