Dear Sirs and Madames,
Again and again it is mentioned for laptops instead of RAM so-called SDRAM.
What are the differences between the two? Advantage / disadvantages etc.
Usually every RAM in the PC is an SDRAM: Synchronous Dynamic RAM. So there's no difference from that point of view.
There's no difference because they are two very different things. RAM is simply called Random Access Memory.
Main memory is mostly RAM. However, RAM can also be used as main memory.
SDRAM indicates the type of RAM. Mate has already explained that. There are, of course, a thousand other types of RAM such as:
SRAM
DRAM
PRAM
PCRAM

So your question is similar to what is the difference between a car and a sports car.
Ram is more of a general term. In modern PS, DDR-SDRAM is installed as the working memory.

Depending on the age of the PC, DDR-Ram to DDR4 Ram. DDR5 is in the starting blocks. Desktop PCs usually have dual inline modules, or dimming for short. Laptops mostly use SO-Dimm. https://de.wikipedia.org/...ory_Module
