Dear Sirs and Madames,

Again and again it is mentioned for laptops instead of RAM so-called SDRAM.

What are the differences between the two? Advantage / disadvantages etc.

Usually every RAM in the PC is an SDRAM: Synchronous Dynamic RAM. So there's no difference from that point of view.

There's no difference because they are two very different things. RAM is simply called Random Access Memory.

Main memory is mostly RAM. However, RAM can also be used as main memory.

SDRAM indicates the type of RAM. Mate has already explained that. There are, of course, a thousand other types of RAM such as:

Ram is more of a general term. In modern PS, DDR-SDRAM is installed as the working memory.
