Have installed Kali linux on a laptop for ages. For quite some time it only starts in tty1 mode. Have already tried many commanos and tips in the internet but nothing worked. Would now like to solve this problem.
Just enter Ctrl Alt F7. Then you should be on the desktop.
Otherwise, see if the X server is running or the display manager starts the boot.
Just try to start the X server "by hand".
If that does not work, read the logfile.
But if it works, check if the display manager is disabled or if it can be started "by hand".
If that does not work, it might help to upgrade the installed packages or reinstall X-Server and / or Display Manager.
Kali linux does not start in gui mode anymore?
That should not be a problem for a professional.
Is not that "gui mode" and not "tty1 mode" but a graphical runlevel (mostly runlevel 3 or 5)
So if it's a problem for you, then you're not a professional, and in that case, you're using the wrong operating system rep anyway. The wrong distribution!
Please install just a, suitable for you, distribution, then you can also get help from me.
