I had several times Internet interruptions in all my devices, so I phoned my provider and we have made new settings for the connection. (New station tuning in the home network or something.) Since then, the Wi-Fi runs flawlessly on all devices (smartphone, tablet, Sonos), only my laptop is no longer. Mostly no connection is made at all, and if so, then only for a short time. What can I do to fix the problem?
Which router, which laptop?
It's an Acer V5-573G and the router is an O2 Homebox 6641. I have to say that I'm not IT savvy at all and need a simple step-by-step guide. 😊
All right, we'll get it! Since the problem occurs only on your laptop, I'm most likely assume that the error is there.
Please look for "cmd" in the start menu. You will then find the program called "Command Prompt". Then please make a right click and select "Run as administrator". Then the command line opens. Here you enter the command "netsh winsock reset" and execute it with a click on Enter.
This command causes your network adapter to be completely reset once. Please try again to connect to the WLAN. If it works now: Yay! If not, just sign up again, preferably with a detailed description of where it hooks (possibly with error message, if there's one) and we continue to tinker.
Thank you very much. Unfortunately it does not work. I get the message: "Can't connect to this network."
Hm, that's a pity.
Let's try the slightly more detailed method, instead of just the command from now just execute all these commands (one after the other, of course) in the command line:
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset
ipconfig -release
ipconfig -renew
ipconfig -flushdns
Then restart the computer and test the fun again.
If that is not enough, is a connection via LAN, so cable, possible? If so, it might be fine to reinstall the network drivers. But it would still be important to know which network card is installed exactly. To do this, open the device manager (just search in the start menu), go to the sub-item "Network adapter" and tell me what the adapters mentioned there are called. For notebooks, these are usually two or three different ones.
Btw., Which operating system do you use? Windows 8 or 10?
Thank you so much, but unfortunately that did not work. I have Windows 10. A friend of mine has recently even installed a new driver. Maybe that did not work, because the problem persists. Slowly I'm hopeless.
Complement: Under the network adapter 12 pieces are listed. Do you want to know them all? The only one with the term adapter is: Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222 Wireless Network Adapter. Is that enough?
I have 2x Bluetooth Device, once the above, 1 Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller and 8x WAN Miniport with different letters in parentheses. Are the many adapters the problem?
The WAN miniports are virtually virtual network cards. You can all http://www.datentechnik-richter.de/service/WAN-Miniports/WAN-mini.htm. Try it again, it may well be that they cause some problems.
Hi! Yesterday I was super happy, because my Wi-Fi worked after several attempts. 3 hours and then it has gone. This morning I was again positively surprised, because I opened the laptop and could hardly believe, when I saw wlan again. Unfortunately only for half an hour. It has gotten better, but the fear, if and how long it works, drives me crazy. Do you have another tip?
