How can I stream on a Chromebook?

I own an Acer Chromebook 314 and an Elgato Cam Link 4k.

I would like to stream with my notebook, but when I install OBS over Linux, the Cam Link is not recognized there. What can I do?

Ro

You will probably need to install a driver.

Linux doesn't automatically install any drivers like Windows does.

As

Ok. How do I do that because the Chromebook itself recognizes the Camlink and I can also use it in the camera app under Chrome OS, but not in Linux.

Ro

Then the signal will not be passed on correctly.

As

No Linux doesn't recognize the device because I can't add it.

Ro

The signal is not passed correctly between Chromebook and Linux

As

So Linux does not recognize the device because the Chromebook takes this as a camera and thus it can't be inserted

Ro

Then you have to configure the Chromebook so that it does not pick up the camera signal.

As

And how should that work?

Ro

Anyone who buys a Chromebook should also be able to configure it.
I can only help with Windows and partly Linux…

to

If you want to stream via YouTube, the YouTube app can certainly do that, right? Vmtl have other services similar apps with this functionality. Then you may not need OBS at all and can work around the problem.

ro

Do you have Linux running in a virtual machine on ChromeOS?

As

So to say yes

As

I saw that it works with the Twitch app.

As

You just can't configure a Chromebook you only have the normal settings but my problem has now been fixed by another user

to

With pleasure.

ro

What does saying like that mean? How did you install Linux on your Chromebook?

As

Yes that can be installed as an add-on in Chrome OS
