What is a good setup for a mini office?

As we get offspring, we will sooner or later have to move the office from the nursery to the bedroom. Since there's not much space in the bedroom (14sqm), a space-saving solution is sought.

Currently in the office a stand calculator is used, which I built myself x years ago. From the performance of us completely enough, since we do not play on the PC, but only for Office, music, Youtube use.

The key data would be there

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4GHz
8 GB RAM
NVidia GTX 560Ti (I think 1GB memory)
Win10 Home Premium

directly connected is an All In One inkjet

If I sell the PC, what could I ask for?

My wife is a student and uses an older Samsung Ultrabook. (That would be replaced by the new notebook, too.)

I'm often away from work, my companion is a 11 "Chromebook (I would keep that)

The goal is to replace the stand computer with a notebook without having to do without the large monitor. The monitor (now I have a 24 "by Asus) is to be mounted on the wall by means of a rotatable wall mount, so that you can, for example, watch a movie from the bed.

Would you use a laptop with docking station? Or buy a new monitor and connect the new notebook via USB, is that possible? Then could the mouse and keyboard peripherals remain connected directly to the monitor, is that possible?

The printer is to be replaced by a WLAN-enabled printer, which then comes into the living room. It would be important to us there a good scan quality and a good and functional app. Google Cloudprint would be great, since I also use a Chromebook.

Do you have concrete device recommendations for me?

I know questions about questions.

Why anything new, the PC is still quite neat? And if something new and ever before an external monitor should be used, why not a compact ITX system instead of a laptop?

For such purposes, I always recommend eg. Notebooks from Lenovo, eg. Used the T-series. For such a good dealer in Hanover (Luxnote, link may not post here, but I find the search easy).

I myself use eg a used T430, SSD installed, memory a bit upgraded, etc. The thing has cost about 400 euro, a docking station helps a lot, because just as you said, the external stuff can remain infected. I can't ask for more from my office, everything is perfect and needs almost no space.

As I said, the PC in terms of performance and otherwise sufficient for us. Only he is just big.

For the PC you get a maximum of 150 euro. (extremely old CPU)
As a printer, I would recommend an Epson Ecotank. He is a bit more expensive to buy, but he does not need ink cartridges.
Some laptops beyond the 800 euro mark have USB C ports. They can be used for image data and USB data. But you need a compatible screen.
For laptops, I would use a T-series Fujitsu Lifebook with dock or, as I said, a T-series ThinkPad with dock. Or you take a mini ITX system. With an Athlon 200GE you get a system for max. 340 euro. In the c't 24/2019 is a construction proposal. I can also give you the specifications.

An ITX system based on an AMD Ryzen 3000G (coming soon in the trade) would be around 350 euro and be quite compact.
