I've had a USB mouse via cable from Dell for six months. So far it has done what a mouse should be able to do and I'm also satisfied with it.
However, the mouse has been causing problems for two weeks. I never get to the USB connector, but you can still hear the Windows sound that a USB device is being unplugged and then plugged in again one after the other. Of course, the mouse does not work during this time either. Sometimes I have to plug in the USB again because the mouse's optical sensor does not light up and does not react - there are no more clicks. Even in normal use, the mouse keeps getting stuck, which is really annoying when gaming and causes outbursts of anger XD
In any case, I did a virus scan first, negative. All drivers are also up-to-date, but unfortunately I can't install a previous version either, otherwise I would have tried that too. For the time the mouse does not work for a second or two, the cursor does not move, nor does a click or scroll work. However, as soon as the mouse goes back, I find the cursor at the other end of the screen. It's just annoying and I'm at the end of my game. Unfortunately I don't have a new mouse.
Since the mouse is still relatively new, I don't think so much that it will be. My USB keyboard works 100%. However, I have difficulties establishing a stable connection with USB sticks and cables to the cell phone.
The touchpad on the laptop works fine, but of course you can't assume that because it's a completely different driver and a completely different interface.
My laptop (around 1 year old):
Lenovo IdeaPad S145
Win 10 Pro x64
USB connections can break.
I would connect a USB hub with several connections and an external power supply to the USB port where the keyboard is, and then connect the keyboard, mouse, sticks and cell phone cable there.
Try another USB port, test another mouse. Sounds like defective.
If different USB devices cause problems, it could also be due to the laptop.
No matter which port I use, the mouse keeps getting stuck. Regardless of where it is plugged in
It doesn't matter. No matter where the mouse is, it always gets stuck
Then, as I said, I would borrow another mouse. If that's the case, it's because of the laptop. => complain, otherwise to the mouse.
I don't have any other mouse XD and don't know anyone who could have one… I guess I'll have to buy a new XD
Ah okay. I had it the other way around on a Lenovo Yoga, that no matter which wireless mouse (Cherry, Logitech, Microsoft, Rapoo) I infected at the time, it kept jerking and it was not possible to work properly. When I connected a Logitech cable mouse, everything was fine, regardless of whether it was connected to the USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 port. Now yoga is only used with a touchpad, so I don't know whether the problem has solved itself in the meantime or whether it is still there.
Yes, try a new mouse. I think the M705 wireless mouse from Logitech is very good, it costs 30 euro and the batteries last over a year.
Thanks for the tip, I'll do that
I bought a new USB mouse with a cord and it works great. Still I had to reset the driver, but the old mouse still doesn't work. It's ripe for the bin
