Minecraft Java launch without internet is that possible?

So I go to a vacation camp in three quarters of an hour and wanted to take my laptop with me with Minecraft on it. In this camp there's not very good and not much internet so I wanted to ask if I could launch 1.8 without internet although I have never launched it. I would be happy if you would write an answer to me.

Yes, I would recommend, afterwards it should also run offline.

Nope if you have never played the version you need an internet connection to download the data afterwards it also works offline but mind you only the single player
