I have a friend's iPhone XS here. Unfortunately, he forgot the code and I wanted to set up the phone again using DFU mode. However, iTunes does not recognize the device. Not even in recovery mode.
Yes, I have tried 2 different original cables on 2 different PCs, on both PCs my iPhone X is recognized without problems.
The problem is that the device can't be charged either. Not because the port is broken, but because it is on (when it is on): "Unlock to use Apple accessories" and then does not load. But it loads when you have it out as far as I can see it.
Question, what else can I do? It can't be due to iTunes, since I already installed it, went through all the official instructions from Apple, etc.
Do I need a minimum number of batteries for this to work? I only get it about 10 percent before the cell phone turns on and refuses to charge.
Incidentally, I tried iTunes on my Windows laptop and PC.

You can fool around until you go black, that will never work. Is part of the security concept. Your acquaintance can reset the password with their Apple ID. If he has also forgotten the ID or the password, he has a pretty paperweight.
Hard reset doesn't work either? Let the battery drain and then plug the phone into the computer and hold the combination for DFU as soon as it starts.
