My TV is so old that it just has a USB port and HDMI too. This allows me to plug in the laptop and see the image on the screen. So Youtobe on the screen.
The laptop is now quite unwieldy and consumes a lot of resources.
My question: Does the whole thing work with Raspi? I could make an internet ethernet socket available for the Raspi. On the one hand, I would like to watch YouTube videos and those videos that VLC conjures up for me on the desktop PC screen without problems, but the grandpa television does not recognize the format when I plug a USB stick with videos directly into the television set.
I'm also grateful for tips on where I can best buy this thing. A Raspi with case should be available for 99 euro. Which cables do I need?
Yes, and if it has HDMI and USB, it is neither ancient nor an op device.
You should be able to connect a RaspberryPi via HDMI without any problems. The Pi also has an Ethernet connection and a Wi-Fi Chil on board for itself. Prop. He has everything you need.
Watching YouTube videos should work, depends on the Pi.
Yes that should work.
Your television is still quite new if it already has USB and HDMI.
My television is way older, it only has SCART and antenna as inputs and I can also connect the Raspberry Pi via HDMI to SCART converter.
Yes, I use a Raspberry Pi to watch videos on a tube TV (that's a real grandpa TV).
WHAT?
I still have such a (even older) TV! It's been standing around in my office for a long time, collecting dust. It doesn't have a USB yet, but it has SCART. Where are such converters available?
My television only collects dust, as rarely as I turn it on.
Have a look at dealers who sell electronics / TV needs such as Amazon, Saturn, MediaMarkt, etc.
But pay attention to the direction of the converter.
