Notebook broken / display?

I have connected an HDMI cable to my notebook and put it in the wrong place. Now the display is loosened slightly and the lid is difficult to close. A part of it jumped out too… I need your help as I can repair it quickly.

Fo

You have to have it repaired. It won't be cheap.

Si

You rather not yourself…
A repair service is usually needed!
Can recommend you if desired

Ea

Of course you can do it yourself! A normal person who doesn't have three left hands…

Ea

Why that? Buy the display, install it…

Si

Yes, but mostly, I know that from my job, it's so badly demolished that it's not that easy.
for example, not everyone has a soldering station…

Ea

You don't need to solder anything. Unplug the display, install and plug in the new display. Looking forward…

What profession do you have if I may ask (only interest).

Si

I also work for a repair service. Mostly in customer service, but of course also in the areas of repair.
Finding and ordering a new display is not that easy. Find especially.
First of all you have to remove the display and damage is very often caused by the careless act of the owner.
There's a serial number on the display itself that you need.
Then you have to find a new display with it, pay attention to the resolution and glossy or matt etc.
It must be 1: 1.
Also the connection!
The "easy" guide.
We offer a 6 month guarantee. Shoring u. Spare part!

an

The display is still perfectly intact. It just came off the lid. The problem is that it can no longer be closed properly

Ea

Well, we agree that most people are too incapable of expanding a display…

Finding a display based on the serial number is not rocket science either, provided you are able to use Google.

If the serial number is correct, the connection will also be correct. Nowadays there's only one really common connection. With older models you can choose between 3 or 4.

The resolution doesn't have to fit lower doesn't bother, higher, as long as the graphics card doesn't take part either.

And glossy or matt is a matter of taste.

Of course, for a repair service, the device must be absolutely the same afterwards, of course you're right.

Ea

Then just put it back in the lid…

an

Haää

Si

The display must be 1: 1, otherwise problems usually occur…
Emphasis on mostly!
Yes, the repair service makes all the bells and whistles perfect because it has to.

Ea

What are the problems?

Could you explain that to me, please? I always try to learn something myself…

I'm a computer scientist with a long history as a hobby electronics technician.

But I'm always interested in gaining new knowledge.

Si

Dear colleague, of course.
Often, as we have noticed, in order to give users problems with repairs, the manufacturers lay out the hardware in such a way that it is restricted to every single part.
Just like SONY on your PlayStation, or Apple on all your devices.
The bottom line is that if the display has a lower resolution, there may be only one image on half of the screen.
As I said, possibly.
Unfortunately, I'm not so deep in the level to say whether this can be avoided by a UEFI crack, but you have to find out.

Ea

Thank you for the information!

For a while now I'm no longer involved in the whole hardware issue…

At the time, I easily installed a 4k ips display on my ThinkPad t440.

Are you sure that the problems still occur today?

Usually this internal display port is used to control the display, this is standardized so not much can actually go there. Unless the manufacturers are so outrageously misusing the connection.

Would you have a more detailed description for me, or which models are it? I'd like to see that…

Today you can't repair a lot of laptops anyway, RAM, CPU, GPU, SSD are all soldered together. Apple doesn't do anything differently. Of course you can do that too, but then you need a rework station. I once adventurously exchanged the GPU on a laptop with hot air and the matching stencil from the Chinese, it worked. But that was a while ago.

Apple used to be annoying, own display, own sound card, own Gpu. You really needed original parts.

Si

Always happy. Yes, the manufacturers unfortunately like to use the UEFI, i.e. The software of the mainboard. It's been no different, especially since ThinkPad Lenovo. Depending on the age of the device, you may still be lucky.
Without precise information about the device, I can't say much more… In the case, manufacturer u. Model or serial number.
In my experience, everything has to be 1: 1 nowadays, with the current devices.

Ea

I would not have thought that.

I'll do some research there, I'm really interested.

I only wonder how this is discussed with the panel manufacturers.

And the mainboards come from some company, so there has to be logistics behind them.

And above all, why do they use this connection at all? Because the parts are cheap to get?

Maybe it's like these pcie riser cards that use a connection cable with USB plugs, although that has nothing to do with the standard at all…

Sure, if something is set in the UEFI, that can change, theoretically at least…

I don't know how the Tpm plays along either.

Si

Of course, there are a lot of displays that fit several NoteBooks, but there are so many displays, you don't believe that.
It's best to use ipc computers.

Ea

Thanks for the tip!

I will now really deal with the topic more intensely, maybe I can find out something there.

If eDP is really not compatible with each other, it is a very questionable development…

I plan to build a small external monitor with a 4k ips laptop display.

I wanted to do the whole thing 2 years ago with a display that I own. When I finally found a Chinese man who sold such a controller, he wanted me to send him the display so that they could test it. It somehow fits your description…

Si

Do that! If this is too much for you, I would be happy to recommend our or other services.
I'm there for any further questions!

Ea

Thank you.

Si

Good luck and have a nice evening!
