I would like to buy a notebook and have limited myself to two that are in my price range. Which one is better?
AMD Ryzen 5 3500u, 16gb Ram DDR4, Vega 8 graphics or
Intel® Core ™ i5-10210U, 8gb Ram DDR4, Intel UHD
I thank you for the helpful answers
Amd on the one hand more RAM on the other hand better graphics and more performance (when overclocking)
It depends on what you want to use the notebook for.
The Intel notebook has the stronger CPU, but less RAM and a weaker graphics unit.
Overclocking? Is it a notebook…
Yes the Intel has a base clock of 1.6ghz the Amd of 2.1ghz which means more power has the amd
No, that is not correct. See CPU user benchmark and comparable. That is just the basic clock. Also depends on boost clock and architecture.
Overclocking is when you need more power than normal
You shouldn't have to overclock (that's why I recommend a higher base clock rate) for the simplest applications, web surfing or working in Explorer (it also hurts the CPU)
"limited myself to two"
Why this?
How much do you want to spend?
Otherwise it depends on what you want to do with it.
You can't overclock Intel's or AMD's notebook CPUs.
What comes out at the end for a boost cycle has nothing to do with OC, but rather with waste heat and cooling.
I want to use it mainly for office work, image and video editing.
500 euro
And what do you want to do with the notebook? (Office applications only, Netflix, video straming, or video cutting or gaming, etc.)
This is a notebook, you can't overclock anything. And you don't have to overclock anything, read the last comment again. The Intel is faster.
I would prefer the 16GB RAM for video editing. However, both devices are not very suitable for such demanding tasks, since they are notebooks and no dedicated graphics card is installed. But then the Ryzen notebook would be a little more suitable.
Office, image editing and small video projects.
Then rather the one with Ryzen 3500U for the purpose of 16GB RAM and with Intel you don't really get anything with 16 GB RAM with the budget.
Intel's processor is better. From the RAM and the integrated graphics unit, the AMD.

For you, the values are not correct according to the manufacturers
I know myself what the base clock is for both models and the 2.1 GHz on userbenchmark make little sense. But does not change the result of the benchmark and the fact that the base clock is not the most important.
The base clock doesn't really matter with mobile CPUs with Turo. It doesn't really say anything about the performance of the CPU.
