I want to buy a computer for my studies. I already have a Windows laptop that I mainly use for personal things like gaming. The new iMac 24 "is a bit more expensive. What would you choose? (Mac)
I would advise against a Mac in your case. Not because I generally have something against Apple's products, but because it is suboptimal to use a Windows laptop and a Mac at the same time. The Apple ecosystem gives you no advantages here, but you still pay far more than for a PC with Windows / Linux.
But otherwise I only have Apple products, iPhone, Watch, iPod, iPad, … Until now I only had windows, so I wanted to try something different
Then of course it looks different. If you continue to use Apple products, a Mac can make perfect sense.
What are you actually studying? If you're studying graphics, it's almost a must to have a Mac. It's the traditional calculator in the graphics industry.
A Mac has very good references when it comes to work that requires a lot of computing power - even if Windows computers can keep up. And such computing power is required when editing photos or even more so when creating videos or editing them.
If I were you, I wouldn't necessarily buy the Mac from an Apple Store. You're guaranteed to pay the highest price. There are shops (Gravis or Media Markt as an example) that may also sell Apple products, but offer them with different features and are then much cheaper in price. If it should already be bought in the Apple Store, then look around for "Refurbished" Mac or for returns from Apple Stores. These are computers that the first buyers didn't like and gave them back. Apple checks them for defects, repairs them if necessary, but then offers them for sale at a much lower price with a full Apple guarantee.
