Buying a used laptop - is it worth it up to what age?

I'm looking for a laptop primarily for office purposes and programming, but videos (locally as well as online) and simple graphics applications should run without problems (expressly not intended for gaming).

A Linux distro is to be used as the operating system.

The whole thing should be in the price range up to about 300 euro, which is why I'm considering buying a used device.

Now the question: So that it also supports all current standards (and by that I don't mean nice-to-haves, but only necessary things) and not after a few years of electronic waste, what is the maximum age it should be?

There are devices that have been leased by companies. They go out after 2, max 3 years. Costs then approx. 20% of the new price. I bought it and would do it again anytime.

It should support 64Bit, from then on all distros work. I would check the availability of a new battery beforehand.

Well, I work in a large IT company and I wouldn't want a single one of all the leasing returns.

I wouldn't consider new in the budget either.

There's only scrap ala Pentium, Celeron or AMD 3020e / A8.

Used Thinkpads are usually worthwhile.

Of course, you always have to look whether the performance requirements of the operating system are met, but I would say that it can take up to a maximum of 10 years if you only need basic functions and nothing graphics-heavy like video games or editing programs.
5 years is basically nothing, of course there are new Grakas but everything else is still great.

Thanks for the hint with the battery, you could overlook it and then end up wondering ^^

That with the 64 bit has to be definite, of course, but my approx. 13 year old HP can already, so the minimum requirement is very low.
