There's a difference between the LT and a cell phone. IdR does not charge the phone if the charging cable is defective. It can then no longer be used with the charging cable.

if the device is running on battery and is not optically charged then the display may be wrong. Test: Let the battery run dry and then charge for the time being. Will it then try if the battery is perhaps still charged. May be a bug in Windows APM
