Upload 4k video to Youtube quickly and easily without yt destroying the video?

I would love to upload my 4k video recorded on my mobile phone directly to Youtube. The result after that: You can select the 4k quality level, but it looks like 720p or even worse and I watch on a 55 inch 4k TV.

So I guess I'll have to render it on the PC because it would take a week or so on the phone. What do you recommend me? Please something that is not that complicated and free, with advertising if you want. It looks good on the TV when I first put it on the laptop and then connect the TV as a monitor.

This can be related to the file format of the video. I assume that 4K is a "heavier" (not internet-friendly!) Codec.

The best thing to do is to calculate it on the PC with the codec H.264 or H.265 (HEVC) and try to keep the bit rate within a reasonable range (you have to try out for yourself what is still acceptable for you).

If you have an Adobe Creative Cloud I recommend using the Adobe Media Encoder to calculate and if not, you can use the free "Handbrake" tool. For this the link:

Hope I could help you a little further.

Thanks.

How did they do it here? Of course, the camera has to be good for this, but it looks like YouTube hasn't compressed or shrunk anything here

PS: If you can't find the H.264 codec on Handbrake:
The H.264 codec is the standard "MP4" codec. Then just select MP4.

Yes, that has to do with the camera. However, I don't know my way around as well as I do with codecs and the processing of videos ^^ 'I've always only been a cutter, editor, motion designer and rarely filmed myself.

There are 2 things I have to say about it:

Watch the video again on YouTube. Then right click on the video. Then click on the option: "Statistics for nerds" then you will see a light gray window in the upper left corner of the video. The Codecs line says: "VP09… Blahblahblah". The VP09 is a codec that YouTube only releases for YouTubers who have a certain number of subscribers, viewers etc. This is a little unfair to the smaller YouTubers, but YouTube has to save computing power for the server because:

… Be on every minute
YouTube 400 hours of video material
uploaded…

And that's why YouTube doesn't release this codec for everyone. That's why the video looks even better.

2. If you want to achieve better quality conversion yourself, you have to keep the bit rate as high as possible. Takes a little longer to figure it out, but your video also has more details.
YouTube also has its own guide

But if you are not yet satisfied with the result, you can set the bit rate tc. Still screwing higher. For now I would try it with this guide.

Could I help you a little for the moment?

If you have any questions, you can just comment.

Happy rendering!

This is what YouTube says about it: https://support.google.com/...2171?hl=de
