I bought a Wi-Fi upgrade a few weeks ago, i.e. I bought a new package that promises to have a download speed of up to 1000mbits. I also got a new router and then connected and switched it on properly. First I connected my laptop to the router via LAN and did a speed test: 700mbits download and 100mbits upload. I was happy because it was far better than the old router or contract (where I should get up to 250mbits but never got it). But I found that the internet was extremely inconsistent for me, sometimes I download 500mbits, sometimes only 6mbits. If I'm connected to the phone wirelessly, it's worse. Earlier, when I was sitting next to the router, I couldn't even send or receive WhatsApp messages.
And now I wanted to ask the experts among you, what could be the reason. I mean, it's not a condition.
Well, you first have to find out whether the problems come from the Internet or start on the home network. The latter is mostly the case. You can find out by pinging the router or doing a speed test on the router.
The 6mbit / s - do you have the one with Lankabel?
If only the reception with WLAN causes problems, you can try changing the radio channel.

No, without. It's great with a LAN cable. I only have problems with my cell phone. When I'm connected wirelessly to the Smart TV and the XBOX, everything runs perfectly.
Then it's the WLAN. It may well be that your neighbors are on the same frequency. So just see which channel is free and take it.

Simply the radio frequency. When multiple people are on the same frequency, there's interference. If you bought the new contract due to slow internet on your cell phone, it was a bad buy.

As long as you still have 200mbits, everything is fine. That is quite enough. I only have 50mbit, and they are enough - I don't download huge files every day. And with normal sirens, it makes no difference.
This probably comes from the fact that your apartment block is connected with 1000mbit. If everyone needs the Internet at the same time, it will be split up. You only get the 500mbit when nobody else needs anything.
Your real problem is the radio connection between router and cell phone. I'm going to make up some numbers, the real values will probably differ, but the principle is the same.
The radio connection between the router and your cell phone is limited to 100mbit. No matter how much is in the contract, no matter what arrives at the router, your cell phone will never get more than 100mbit.
But now there's a disturbance in the connection because your neighbor is on the same frequency. This is why 50% of the data that arrives on your mobile phone is rubbish. This has to filter out your cell phone and the data has to be sent again. Therefore, only 20mbit arrive on your mobile phone as soon as your neighbor uses the Internet.
In this case, it doesn't matter whether your contract now contains 20mbit or 2000mbit, because that is not the limiting factor at all.
What you can do is set a different frequency in your router. The best thing to do is look for instructions on the Internet.
