Use two PC mice independently of each other?

Question to the PC nerds here: if I attach a wireless mouse to my laptop with trackpoint, then I can use both as a mouse - could somehow manage to duplicate the mouse pointer as it were and use both devices for different mouse pointers and thus two windows to serve at the same time? Or is that basically not possible?

Currently I have a Xubuntu 18.04 (if the info helps) and am quite a Dau - so could not in any case, something like this program, even if it should be possible.

So far, all mice have always moved the same mouse pointer, regardless of operating system, etc., if I had more than one pointing device (mouse, touchpad, …) connected.

(Except for virtual machines, if I connected a device to the virtual machine, but that's something completely different.)

I have often wished for a pointing device for each pointing device.

Sure, the virtual machine is different - I do not mean that - I would like to be able to click on something in the one window at the same time and scroll on the second page of a book ;-).

Real? At the same time? I could not do it. But maybe it's just a matter of learning to push mice with both hands at the same time.

Ho

Exercise thing, yes - I would not need both mice for fine work - I just want to be able to serve both at the same time: -D.

Or even with one foot…

lo

Look around for key combinations… You do not need 2 mice… Not to mention that as far as I know so as always only one mouse pointer is available…

Ho

Keyboard shortcuts do not help me, because the window then needs the focus - which it does not have, if I do something with the mouse in another window.

But thanks for the answer

Then use a software that allows you to intercept and program operating system hotkeys. Under Windows e.g. Ac'tivaid or autoit. Then you can then remember the focus, focus on app with name "xy", send button shortcut for page change, reset focus.

Sorry, without m.E. Not because this use case is too special - I would not know who already offers such a thing. And besides - do you want to read now or use the mouse in another program? I do not yet understand how your head should manage at the same time.

Ho

Do you want to read now or use the mouse in another program

Both at the same time - that's the point.

with the you hotkeys at operating system level

I've been doing that for a long time - I also have a lot of stuff on it - something like music playback / pause / song skipping. Unfortunately, I would not know how to order a page in an ebookread program, especially if the program itself should not be in focus - with music, I could change something like that on my own, because they are standard commands everywhere also finds - this unfortunately not.

Ch

By scripting you can implement the focus. Without script, I see no way, because apparently no one has poured the same topic in a program for all. Here below is a similar, 10 year old request - even without result.
