I've been playing Minecraft for many years. Right now on a Lenovo Thinkpad laptop and now I wanted to try out what it's like to play Minecraft with OptiFine, but so far I haven't been able to really figure out how. I'm not that well versed in this subject area and am a bit afraid that I might break something through wrong actions… Does any of you know what exactly I have to do for it?

Should know whether with or without Forge, 😅
As with any Windows PC.
With Forge:
Go to the site of https://files.minecraftforge.net/...forge.net/ and download the appropriate version. The best way to install Forge is to use the Windows Installer.
Start Minecraft and select "Forge" under Profiles. Click on "Play".
Under Mods, check whether Forge has started by looking in the list of Mods to see if Forge is there. If Forge is available, you can close Minecraft again.
Download the https://optifine.net/.../downloads" class="text-primary">https://optifine.net/.../downloads and move it in the Minecraft folder under "Run (Win + R)" "% appdata%.
If you now start Miencraft, you will find the new Optifine settings under Settings.
Without Forge:
Download the latest installation from the https://optifine.net/downloads from Optifine.
Run the installation file.
Optifine is now installed in your Minecraft
Without Forge. So far: )
