Laptop switches to internal speaker at low volume?

When I connect speakers to my laptop via a 3.5mm jack, it only works if you make the speaker amplifier louder, it is not the speakers. If you make the amplifier quieter, the sound changes from the speakers to the internal speakers. Does anyone have a solution? I have a Lenovo v145-15ast
