Lenovo Recovery System does not work. What do I have to do?

Moin everyone,

I have a Lenovo laptop with Windows 8 and wanted to reset it because I can no longer access the system because I forgot the password.

I pressed the Novo button and the menu with the sub-item "Recovery System" appears. If I choose this it doesn't work. The normal Windows logon screen appears. What can I do here? I don't have a Windows CD.

Thank you very much for your help and have a nice 4th Advent!

There are many password reset tools available. Take something like that.
and Win8 is no longer supported by Microsft.

I would create a Windows recovery CD with another PC and if the Lenovo does not have its own optical drive, use an external one.
Boot with it and initiate the factory restore. If you can't cope on your own, get support.
If you boot an executable system, e.g. Ubuntu, you can try to save personal and important data and try to find out whether a hardware failure has caused your problem. E.g. HDD, SSD, storage…

Not correct! You haven't been able to get telephone support for it for almost three years, but updates for Windows 8 will still be available for a long time: until January 10, 2023! See first line at https://www.google.de/...pport+ende

Well, then you continue to work with win8. The problems e.g. With InternetExpolrer we would then see.

Great, another manufacturer technology that doesn't work, you have to do everything yourself!

In principle, the Lenovo Novo key should work completely independently of Windows. Actually it should start the auxiliary system, which then simply takes an image from another partition and transfers it to the C: \ partition. I did that 5 years ago and was able to reset the completely screwed up Windows 10 Home system back to factory settings in a short time.

Have you touched the Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 on it with a partition manager to free up space or did you try to upgrade to Windows 10 and it didn't work?

You can create a Windows DVD or a USB stick with Windows 8 for free and then use it to reinstall Windows. However, you will have to do this on a different device.

You can download the ISO file required for this directly from Microsoft: https://www.microsoft.com/...indows8ISO

Once downloaded, you'll need to burn the ISO file to a DVD or create a bootable stick. If you choose a DVD, you can right-click on the ISO file from Windows 7 and then select the Burn disc image option.

If you decide on the variant with the USB stick, then download the free Rufus program: https://rufus.ie/

Open the program and click on the selection button on the right. Now select the ISO file. You shouldn't have to change anything in the settings. So you can start the process right away.

Then boot from the DVD or USB stick and follow all steps.
