Does anyone know whether you can simply switch to Windows 10 on a laptop with Linux as the pre-installed operating system? After starting, can I simply delete Linux and then install Windows 10?
Wanted to cover myself before buying a new laptop and don't know about the operating system
This is not a problem. Simply copy Windows 10 to a bootable USB stick and make the Linux partition flat when installing Windows 10.
Yes of course the Win DVD or USB stick with Win10 image goes in, boot from it and then assign the entire disk to Win. But then you have to buy a Windows license. Why don't you buy a laptop with pre-installed Windows, the OEM Win10 versions are cheaper
Of course it works if there are problems in the other direction.
Stick in, set the boot sequence appropriately and iron over Windows.
Sure, you can simply transfer Linux: https://www.bestetipps.de/computer/windows-tipps/linux-mit-windows-ueberspielen-die-loesung/
Unfortunately, it doesn't exist with the laptop I'm looking for. Otherwise I would do it immediately
Yes, "one" can - whether "you" can do it depends on your technical skills. 😉
You should just make sure that the device receives Windows drivers from the manufacturer.
Which, to be honest, is much more likely than that all the drivers in the Linux kernel are already available for new laptop hardware.
Do you mean what exactly now? Just want to know how to uninstall Linux. Have now heard from others that you should simply erase the hard drive and then Linux would also be gone and then I could install Windows with the boot stick, right?
Operating systems are not uninstalled: They are deleted from the hard drive - with another operating system or its installation medium.
Do you mean what exactly now?
If you have to ask this, then you'd better get an experienced person on site to show you. Your lack of understanding shows that you lack basic knowledge that can't be taught here in a few lines.
If I simpify what has been written even more strongly, I would have to start at the level of an "Obelix GmbH & Co. KG" language - and although this is a bit humorous, too many mods are not joking here. 😉
