Laptop for programming AND video / photo editing?

I'm looking for a laptop for programming AND video / photo editing.

Criteria:

NO Mac
at least 8, more like 16 GB RAM
HDMI, USB (at least 2x), LAN, AUX (jack) connections
faster CPU
under 1000 euro (if possible)

I hope someone comes up with something good, or someone finds something that fits. Thanks in advance, just ask if you have any questions.

Which IDEs and which photo and video editing do you use?

ThinkPad maybe?

You can still upgrade well. On my laptop, for example, you can also change the CPU.

Otherwise I would recommend Acer or HP. In my opinion, Lenovo contains a lot of bloatware.

Ra

Logic? They say "Maybe a ThinkPad?" and "hatest" below with "[…] Lenovo has a lot of bloatware in my opinion."…

Visual Studio Code, Photo and Video Editing I'm still undecided

Logic? I'm talking about somewhat older ThinkPads that are no longer marketed by Lenovo? You can also reinstall Windows 10 and solve the problem with it…

gi

And besides, where do I "hate"?

Ra

I can't recommend an exact laptop, but I'll give you a few dates that you could stick to

A processor with at least 3.0GHz base clock
A processor with no more than 6-8 cores (many video editing programs get along best with 6-8 cores)
Min. 16 GB of RAM
An SSD with at least 512 GB of memory should be installed
Possibly. A graphics card with at least 3 GB V-RAM

And of course the most important thing: Do not buy a refurbished model.

De

Because at Lenovo you should differentiate between the consumer series and the business "ThinkPad" series.

With laptops and all that mobile stuff, everything, in my experience, always costs a lot more money than it has to be.

Buy you a desktop that meets the requirements. You can find this on the software packaging. There's always something about recommended system requirements and minimum system requirements.

Depending on what you need.

And oh yes, a good used one with a guarantee is usually better than something new, because it is always cheaper with the same performance.

And when it comes to video editing and animation and that sort of thing. Then you can't have enough RAM anyway, so min. 12-16 GB the more the better.

And at least one of the older 4-core processors. There are some from china for 40 euro, but one of the ICore processors is probably more future-proof. I3 ideally i9 …

You just have to weigh what you want.

But make sure that the mainboard allows later extensions or tuning measures. So directly buy a used one with which you can then still "clock". Some of the old processors can still get 1/5 - 2/5 more power, at least I've read on the Internet.

And if the software you want is also available for Linux, Ubuntu, Linuxmint and the like (mostly you have graphics problems because of the drivers), then you have a little more power, many say.

So if old pcs no longer run with Windows then simply put linux ubuntu or something on it and you have a reasonably working computer.

Have fun putting it together.

That's exactly what I'm about…

Why not refurbished please? Where is the logic? I also have a refurbished iPhone. Like new no bugs 2 year guarantee on an old device on which even Apple does not give a guarantee anymore… That would be another advantage of it.
