I'm considering buying a new laptop, but unfortunately I'm not familiar with processors.
I need a laptop for various Microsoft & Adobe programs as well as Eclipse etc. Otherwise I would only watch it privately for films or use games like Sims or Fortnite every now and then.
What is the exact difference between AMD Ryzen and Intel Core? Which one would you recommend?
The processor alone makes it difficult to assess an entire laptop, but what can be said is that the i5 is already 6-7 years old and the Ryzen 5 is only about a year old, the Ryzen is also significantly stronger in terms of performance, The integrated graphics unit of the Ryzen 5 is also significantly stronger than that of the i5, unless a dedicated one is installed
The decision is clearly in favor of the Ryzen.
In terms of CPU performance, this is hardly noticeable with single core, with MultiCore clearly in favor of the RYZEN. In the iGPU performance, the RYZEN clearly has the edge. SIMS 4 incl mods and CC run very well. Even Fortnite is conditionally playable, which can't be said for the Intel
So you don't actually have to think.
The RYZEN is 100% the better choice.
Oh yes, the Intel is also not outdated 2 core CPU (no longer up to date), neither of technology nor of performance.
By Ryzen 5 I meant the laptop "Lenovo IdeaPad C340 platinum gray 2in1 Convertible (14" FHD IPS, Ryzen 5 3500U, 8 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, Vega graphics, Windows 10 Home) ".
I also have a Ryzen 3500u and can't complain.
If necessary, the OC potential is around 20%, which is very helpful with low gaming.
