500GB SSD for an everyday laptop sufficient?

I'm currently in the middle of searching for a laptop (mainly for multimedia & office).

Have now picked out two interesting models.

One has 1TB SSD, the other "only" 512GB.

Although I'm not a person who will have a lot of files on my laptop, I still wonder what makes more sense, because having enough storage space is good for me.

Should I rather take the one with the bigger memory?

(Should I maybe pay attention to something else before buying it, buy a laptop for the first time)

LG and thanks in advance!

Try 500gb

You can always upgrade, especially since SSDs are just cheap and continue to fall

Mu

You can't always upgrade, some manufacturers solder their hard drives. But I always consider a small, external hard drive to be a very good compromise.

Yes, 500 GB are quite generous and normally last a long time, as long as you do not install big games.

If you should have many files, you can still save them to an external hard drive.

As a tip else: I recommend a laptop with FullHD, so 1920x1080 pixels… And 8 GB RAM has almost every laptop anyway.

Po

It depends on you alone. "Normal use" for me means working for the Internet and Office, as should 500GB loose rich.

Is it an M2 SSD and another 2.5 '' SSD can be retrofitted? Then you could still upgrade if necessary. Or outsource less used data to an external hard drive.

Th

If you really only intend to use the device Office and not thousands of videos, photos, etc. To store it, sufficient 500GB.

I even use a laptop almost exclusively for Office and have currently occupied about 300 GB with Windows, and that over a period of about 8 years.

Otherwise, it would be useful as already written to link the two models, so you can look at the rest of the hardware.

I have little idea of RAM honestly 😅 But here are the links to the articles I'm interested in: https://www.mediamarkt.de/...78938.html and httpshttps://www.mediamarkt.de/de/product/_hp-pavilion-15-cw1315ng-2569149.html

Looks good, so you're not doing anything wrong. Only a little expensive, is just media market. Can you if you want on geizhals.de compare the prices to save a little money.

If the design is not that important, I always recommend this one here:

He just has a combination of HDD and SSD and a very good P / L ratio.

First of thanks for your recommendation.

How useful is a drive at all?

This model would have one, so far I've always looked at the research that it has none, because I just do not really need it.

Be

Yes, I can also recommend it, I bought my daughter's birthday. The only drawback I can think of is the webcam, but if that does not matter, you'll get a cheap, fast laptop.

Ju

For normal use, 500 GB is sufficient. More I would only recommend if you either have many videos or other large files on the PC, if you want to install games on it, or if you want to install large professional programs such as CAD video editing or graphic design programs. Since I assume that with you nothing is true, 500 GB are sufficient.

Th

A drive is not needed anymore these days. The devices with a drive are therefore usually a bit thicker and heavier. I only chose the device because of the price. Nothing speaks against your two models.

Th

Yes, I have also recommended my girlfriend and can confirm that. For 2019, the webcam is really bad and the fan could be a bit quieter. Otherwise, a top device!

Sa

Okay thank you.

But which model would you choose if you had the choice?

At the bottom of the answers I was already advised to the Lenovo model.

Th

I would also take the Lenovo because the RAM is dual channel.

A game, and the plate is full -> Ark…

(he will not run on the Lappi anyway)

You can never have enough storage.

My NAS is half full with 5TB of 12TB…
