I'm currently looking for a new laptop and currently have 2 to choose from. Which would you rather prefer?

Specs:

AMD Ryzen ™ 7 4800U processor (up to 4.2 GHz), octa-core

35.6 cm (14 ") Full HD 16: 9 display (anti-glare), webcam

16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD

AMD Radeon graphics, HDMI, USB 3.0, WLAN-ax, BT

Windows 10 Home 64 bit, battery life up to 14 h, 1.5 kg

vs.

AMD Ryzen ™ 7 5700U processor (up to 4.3 GHz), octa-core

39.6 cm (15.6 ") Full HD 16: 9 display (anti-glare), webcam

16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD

AMD Radeon graphics, HDMI, WLAN-ax, BT

Windows 10 Home 64 bit, 1.8 kg

I would choose the lower one, he has better things than the one from above.

wi

I would take the second. But not because I think the one that is particularly suitable for you, just because it has more SSD space and Lapis are usually difficult to upgrade.

For the topics you have written, you could save a lot of money if you use something completely different.

Gu

The SSDs can normally be exchanged without any problems, except for convertible / tablet things.

Gu

It depends for what… Hardly a general decision based on the information available.

Gu

Work & school

I'm doing an apprenticeship as an IT specialist for system integration.

wi

My concern was that it is not possible to put a second one. If I have to replace the SSD of a Lapi because it is too small, you should take one with a larger one.

This saves money and doesn't have an SSD to throw away. I'm against waste.

wi

Then you really shouldn't need a second opinion for such a question. With system integration in particular, you have a lot to do with hardware.

Gu

To take with you, a smaller model with a long battery life (i.e. The former) is often an advantage… In addition, a little lighter.

Otherwise the two are very similar. 500 GiB should be enough for storage…

Gu

One would think, however, the upper laptop has more points in the CPU benchmark than the lower one.

Gu

Not necessarily. In my current primary job I have no real contact except for the hardware I work with, I administrate systems, build scripts for automation… Nothing more to do with the actual hardware itself. The IT professions are very broadly divided…

Gu

I know. Thanks.

But since both are so similar and also very close to each other in terms of price, it is a bit difficult for me to decide which one to take.

Gu

Whereby 500 GiB should normally be enough… But understand what you mean… But you can also sell them.

If he is also for school, the 14 "(mobility)

Otherwise the 5700u.

You will hardly notice the difference in performance, the 15.6 "has the advantage that it will probably stay cooler (because it has a larger case) and can therefore keep the clock better.

Benchmarks are (in my experience) only approximate values. On the one hand, these are mostly all synthetic benches. Often the reality looks a little different because there's a lot more involved.

Ar

I would also recommend the lower one. The APU is from the current generation (which of course does not mean that the other is worse). And if you have to do a lot with SW (even if only less here) a larger display is helpful.
