I tried to understand it on my own, but it feels like the only thing I think about it on the internet is that it should be bad with the laptop
That means nothing else than that the graphics unit in the CPU takes the RAM from the working memory of the notebook
The term "shared VRam" is usually used for computer systems which instead of a dedicated graphics card with its own graphics memory only have an integrated GPU (iGPU) without its own graphics memory.
Due to the lack of its own memory, an iGPU has to access the relatively slow RAM of the system and then share these scarce resources with the CPU cores.
Therefore, for computer systems with iGPU (e.g. Intel HD Graphics or Radeon Vega 3, 5, 7 etc.) it is immensely important that the RAM is always installed in pairs (i.e. 2 or 4 modules) for the broader dual-channel mode.
Compared to single channel with only one module @ 64 bit you have a dual channel 128 bit connection to the RAM. The 128-bit connection can then be shared by the CPU and iGPU cores without major performance bottlenecks compared to just 64-bit.
Thank you, can you perhaps tell me how I can tell on a PC (e.g. From the description on the Internet) whether the RAM is installed in pairs or not?
Then either directly in the heading or in the technical details (e.g.):
8 GB DDR4 / 2 × 4 GB or 16 GB DDR4 / 2 × 8 GB installed.
If something of this kind was not clearly noted in the product description / in the technical details, unfortunately only a single memory module is installed.
Thank you! I only have one last question: I'm looking at various laptops on the Internet and there's only 16 GB of RAM alone, but the tech. Details are then 2 x 8 GB under "memory layout". Is that something else again?
But in the techn. Details are then 2 x 8 GB under "memory layout".
This wording would then also mean the broader band dual channel mode.
May I ask you for what basic purposes you are currently looking for a new computer / notebook, and which processor models have you found the most interesting in your search so far?
After effects, sims 4 and things like netflix etc should run smoothly on the laptop. I don't know much about the technology, but I've read myself and at least know a little more than before. I have memorized / saved some laptops and then somehow want to see which of them is best for me. But it's not that easy if you don't have enough knowledge genug
What price budget do you have in mind?
I'm very reluctant to spend more than 850. For example, the laptops I found were all in the 700-900 range
Look for Sims 4 and After Effects for https://www.saturn.de/...57779.html
Windows 10 (Home) can be obtained for around 30 euro and can be supplied with the necessary special drivers for your own installation from Acer.
This book also contains a mobile Nvidia Geforce GTX 1650 with 4 GB of GDDR5 memory ex works.
It is not so important if only 1 × 8 GB DDR4 memory is installed at the factory.
That rather nothing because no delivery is possible and the next Saturn is too far away, thank you trotdzem!
It was just an example… 🙄
Yes, sorry, I just don't want to annoy anyone here that's why I answered that
https://www.otto.de/...1295442675 I found another book for 800 euro with a mobile Geforce GTX 1650.
He also delivers online and has the product in stock.
Thanks but I have to say that I'm really not a big fan of such designs. What would you say personally to this one: https://www.computeruniverse.net/de/lenovo-ideapad-5-14alc05-14-ryzen-55500u-radeon-rx-vega-7-16gb-ram-512gb-ssd-w10h?utm_channel=psm&agt=288
That in turn has shared vram
Unfortunately, there's no explicit mention of the memory configuration, but only "16 GB soldered and not expandable"
Yes, I know, that's why I was unsure. I also found the one here with 16 GB ram 2 × 8 https://www.expert-technomarkt.de/Notebooks/HP-15s-eq2659ng-Full-HD-Notebook-39,6-cm-15.6-Zoll-16-GB-Ram-1-TB-SSD-Windows-10-Home-AMD-Ryzen-5-Schwarz-250-999,99-Euro.17045017414.html
However, I don't understand why it only costs 600 because I think it's not that bad, is it?
It says "Made in China". In addition, the article is not available… So it is unclear when and whether it will even end up there in the range.
This model seems to be "available" only in this shop.
