Is it worth it and does a laptop still hold a degree when I buy it at the tender age of 15? I have tackled the Matebook 14 with a Ryzen and would like to surf, program and use it for office applications.
That depends on what you study. If you go into the field of mechanical engineering and thus in the direction of CAD / CAM, the hardware becomes extremely borderline.
For any breadless Schwafelfächer this is enough, if it is a wertiger, which can also something off.
With an AMD Ryzen 5 - 2500u incl. Vega 8 graphics I see for your tasks the next few years as there are no restrictions for school and study.
This is likely to run in secondary vocational schools / universities and technology simulations (electronics, pneumatics / hydraulics) easily. Simpler CAD training projects should also be easy to pack with the appropriate training software in terms of the acquisition purpose.
I think it is well suited for that. Even some games will work with the Vega graphics.
The biggest weakness that speaks against long use of notebooks, however, is the battery. It will lose capacity, and if the battery life is still enough for you if you go to study someday, is questionable.
However, the Matebook D14 Ryzen already exists for 600 euro, and seems to be a good device.
