Computer] Burn operating system to CD / DVD?

I want to burn an operating system to a DVD + R for booting.

What's the best way to do this?

Is there a good tool for that?

It is for an old laptop because it only supports booting from CD.

It depends on which operating system it is. You can now store most of them on a USB stick - CDs are not absolutely necessary.

Go

Burn the ISO of the operating system with any burning program and mark it as bootable in the default settings of the burning program.

Jo

Unfortunately you can only boot from CD in the BIOS

Jo

Okay thank you very much, it's about Linux.

Do you know a good program for this?

Burning programs are almost like sand by the sea. Take CDBurnerXP, it is slim, fast and easy to use and can of course burn ISO files to CD and DVD. This program works on Windows. If you are currently using another operating system, please report it.

On Linux, Pburn is the most convenient. It also has a Klickidibunti interface.

Under Windows I recommend the free "CDBurner XP". Does not only run under XP, but also under the following Windows dialects.

It is best to use a USB stick for this. Then choose the distro (Knoppix!) And burn it to the stick.

Jo

Unfortunately, this is not possible because the laptop only supports CD / DVD

ki

Since I still do not know what it is about, you can't answer the question in more detail.

Jo

So an old laptop that can only boot from a CD or floppy disk, where Linux should be installed on it.

I would download the FREE TOOL RUFUS. It does everything and is relatively easy to use.

Jo

Thanks, but the laptop can only boot from CD

Gl

But with rufus you can also burn ISO images to DVD or the function has now been removed. My version is just a few years old.
