Can I skip the Recycle Bin when deleting files on the desktop?
My cat had the idea to lie down on my laptop and accidentally (?) Deleted or moved a lot of files, I was able to cancel a few.
Does that mean you want to permanently delete the files?
No, no files should be deleted. My problem is that files have been deleted (?) And can't be found in the recycle bin.
That's fine.
If you delete a file with the "Delete" key, it is placed in the trash.
If you delete a file with the key combination "Shift + Del", it will be deleted irrevocably and therefore not put in the trash.
Then your cat will have switched and removed at the same time. Then the files are completely gone.
However, there are a few useful programs that can restore such data yourself.
What programs can do that?
Can you do that even after restarting the laptop?
You can restore the files relatively easily with the program "Recuva".
The free version is sufficient for this.
Normally pretty much everything ends up in the trash. However, you can set a maximum storage space in the Windows Recycle Bin. If this is reached, Windows will delete everything directly.
But there's also the "nice" option, "delete files immediately", which is equivalent to deactivating the recycle bin. Then everything will be deleted mercilessly. No matter whether the wastebasket is full or empty.
Even if I restarted the laptop?
Recuva (chargeable) or test disc

Restarting is not a problem, only if you have copied a lot of new files to the laptop in the meantime can be a problem.

This program is quite effective. This is also possible after a restart.
