Does every computer / laptop with Windows have this trash icon on it?
I can't find it on my laptop, I don't know which version of the Windows operating system it has. Have had the laptop for about 5 years.
Where can I find the trash on my packard bell laptop.

You can create the icons on the desktop yourself and define what is displayed and what is not. Go to Windows Explorer click with the right mouse button on the recycle bin and choose "Create desktop shortcut"
Shut down again and restart. May not have been uploaded.
Right click on the desktop> Personalize
Then to "Themes", on the right "Desktop Icon Settings" or something like that
Then see if there's a tick next to the wastebasket, if not, turn it on

I was looking here in the laptop and it says Windows 10 but I don't think I have it on it. Then I clicked this trash for the third time, but it is not on the desktop. Do I have to shut down the laptop before it is displayed?
With Win8.1 and Win10, a laptop / PC restart can help.
