I wanted to ask if it is somehow possible that I can transfer my laptop to a monitor with hdmi and there's a new desktop on the laptop? Or is the screen always dull and overwhelming?
Either you mirror on the second (additional) monitor or expand the desktop so that there's different content on both
If you connect your notebook to a monitor, you can use Win + P (Windows key + P) to call up a menu in which you can set exactly how it should behave. What you mean is called "expand" in the menu.
That depends on the setting. Either you expand the desktop, then everyone is independent, or you mirror the screen, then the same thing is displayed on both.
only the background image, as far as I know, can only be selected together. I.e. The same thing appears on each of the desktops.
