What is more effective?
Download Gta with the laptop (3 to 4 mb / s), connect the hard drive of the laptop to the PC and pull over or,
Right on the PC with 200 max. Download 500 kb / s (rarely 500 rather 200 to 350).
What's going faster?
330-500kb
Download it to the PC, then connect the PC and laptop via LAN cable and copy the game over.
You can also enable the internet connection on the laptop so that the PC can then use the laptop's WLAN cable.
I've tried that before, but the laptop doesn't recognize it when I plug it in
Does LAN on laptop not work at all? Open the Windows settings and click on "Network and Internet" and then "Change adapter options". "Ethernet" should be displayed. This is the LAN connection. If you click on the right there, you can also display the status of the connection.
The download via the PC would then take up to a factor of 8 longer than with the notebook. For each GB of data we're talking about download times of approx. 2000 s at 500 Kbyte / s vs. 250 s at 500 kByte / s.
A subsequent data transfer with approx. 50 MB / s via USB 2.0 would then take another 20 seconds per GB.
So downloading to the book and then transferring data to the PC would clearly be the faster solution.
It would be even faster if you would connect the two devices to each other in a sufficiently fast network right from the start, or connect the HDD of your computer to your notebook immediately via USB as the target drive for the download.
There's a LAN connection from the previous user (used laptop) but you can't delete it. When I plug in the LAN cable, nothing happens. I'm still connected to Wi-Fi
The housing blocks that, which means I can't connect my HDD to the dsn laptop and I don't have an adapter, I can't connect (I explained in the other comment)
Just because nothing happens doesn't mean it doesn't work.
What does the status of the LAN connection show when the laptop is connected to the PC?
You do not have to delete or recreate LAN connections.
This is a cross, no matter whether it is connected to the router or the PC
If you had already explained this in more detail in your question, I would not have answered here at all.
Nevertheless, I now know which is better, so it was not meaningless.
You can also reset the network under "Network and Internet". Then the LAN may go again.
I'll be home in 30 minutes and I'll have a look
From which source do you want to "download" the game?
If it is a platform like Steam, this will probably not work via this detour (via notebook).
Because the download and the installation are one.
No independently installable data packets are downloaded.
I assume you want to "download" someone with a faster internet connection. Then you have to drag your PC there.
Or be extremely patient and work on this "snoring" line.
This makes even MP3 files a challenge.
Can you use YT at 720p at all? Probably not…
And if this GTA is part 5, it would also be a mad act with 3-5MB / s, because according to Steam the game occupies up to 75GB on the HD.
So the compressed data volume will be at least 40-50GB. And then there are regular updates…
You definitely need a faster broadband connection!
These 3-5MB / s roughly indicate a 40MegaBit line (with performance drops). Basically, you can work quite well with it. Even with this amount of data.
A faster and (above all) more stable line would of course always be better.
Well, that needs a long explanation now.
I want to download it from rockstar launcher.
I do NOT want to go to a friend, the problem is: the PC is not connected to the cable via the router but the Wi-Fi amplifier. The speed is very low down there. However, the Wi-Fi (from the router) is very fast, we're 5 people and everyone is on the Internet and I can just look at 720p, sometimes only 480p. Since the Wi-Fi router is at the neighbors' (internet is shared), we first have to drill a hole through the wall, but that takes a bit.
So for me there's only 500kb / s 10 hours left or?
So when I'm connected to the LAN cable on the laptop, it says for network and internet: network cable has been removed. Where exactly can I reset it?
You won't have much else to do at the moment…
However, I have a tip for all of you:

To do this, each individual PC in the home network must be equipped with its own license (15.90 euro lifetime).
The tool then communicates with all PCs and recognizes the respective programs and services that access the Internet.
Then a temporary priority is dynamically assigned to each individual program or service in order to make optimal use of the total bandwidth.
Email uses less bandwidth than a game or stream. And even a download is not really time-critical.
And so there are far fewer blockages by other participants in the home network. No matter whether it is a LAN, Wi-Fi or DLan connection.
I think the demo version is fully functional for about 3 weeks or 30 days.
(And for "current reasons" there's a temporary "special offer"…)
And if you can pull a LAN cable to the router, you can connect your own 1GBit (4-8Port) switch in a row. So everyone could use the faster and more stable LAN connection.
15.90 per person that only 14 year olds need it? My parents don't pay that, it will probably be difficult. But thanks, I'll start it now🤮🤢

In the Windows settings. Under "Network and Internet / Status". At the bottom right. But it can also be that the LAN socket is broken or dirt has settled in it.
It is not normal for your PC to get such an extremely slow speed via the WLAN amplifier. Actually, it should be at least as fast as your laptop. Maybe you can install a WLAN card in the PC with an external antenna. Then you connect the best possible antenna.
We have already ordered a WLAN card, I have an antenna from my other neighbor, so I can borrow it.
