If something goes wrong, it is very easy to replace, is in most cases faster, no annoying battery, significantly better price-performance ratio and so on.
A PC has more power for less money. But you can't just take a PC with you when you're on the go.
In addition, you can easily upgrade a PC, with a laptop you can easily replace RAM and hard disk, the rest of it becomes more difficult.

First tell them that pcs are easier (or at all) to convert, they allow better cooling and are often cheaper. That they are better for gaming, you can do something like connecting multiple screens and replacing defective parts without problems.
Desktops are easier to open and therefore very easy to maintain and clean.
The cooling is better and the PC can run all day without causing problems.
Desktops often have a stronger CPU and laptops often have an economical one.
If you are not traveling a lot and only use the computer at home anyway, I recommend a desktop.
